Slowniki-Pro is a lexicographical project that brings all general and specialist dictionaries into one online place.
The aim was to replace the old ways of building and distributing specialist dictionaries — non-intuitive offline editors and installation via CDs/DVDs — with simply the Internet. The project includes a public front-end portal of online dictionaries, a moderator and reseller panel controlling sales of paid access, and a dictionaries' editor panel that lets clients create and manage dictionaries from the browser — including audio pronunciation, printable versions, exports to native desktop apps, and publishing onto the platform.
Tech wrap-up
- The whole back-end and editor tools: written from scratch in a custom MVC PHP framework, using the Doctrine ORM.
- Designed an SQL schema applicable to all dictionaries and languages on the platform.
- Implemented payments (via DotPay).
- Automatic generation of PDF invoices.
